Full Card (SHO, 10:00 pm ET)
David Benavidez (25-0, 22 KO) vs David Lemieux (43-4, 36 KO), super middleweights, 12 rounds, for interim WBC title
Yoelvis Gomez (5-0, 5 KO) vs Jorge Cota (30-5, 27 KO), junior middleweights, 10 rounds
Luis Nunez (16-0, 12 KO) vs Jonathan Fierro (13-0, 12 KO), featherweights, 10 rounds
In recent months, David Benavidez has called out everyone from Canelo Alvarez to Caleb Plant and Jermall Charlo.
The former two-time WBC super-middleweight champion can inch himself closer to landing at least one of those big fights when he takes on David Lemieux from the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz., on Saturday night. The vacant interim WBC super-middleweight title will be on the line.
At 25-years-old, the undefeated Benavidez (25-0, 22 knockouts) has carved out the reputation for being one of the best switch hitters and most feared punchers in boxing, having produced five straight stoppages.
He'll be clashing with a 33-year-old Lemieux (43-4, 36 KOs), who has won five consecutive fights since dropping a unanimous decision to Billy Joe Saunders in December 2017.
Will Benavidez flatten Lemieux in devastating style? Or will the veteran use his experience to shock “El Bandera Roja”?
